August 19th, 2009 Run with Porter Event
I was recently invited back to my original home town of Winnipeg Manitoba Canada to take part in the first annual Run with Porter event! You can read all about it at: http://runwithporter.com/ . The event was close to my heart as this is a something that happened to one of my family members and has touched the hearts of thousands. Please feel free to make the trip next year as it looks like this will be very popular in years to come!!
The Run with Porter took place just outside of Winnipeg in Birds Hill Park. The weather this entire summer here as been miserable and wet. The day of the Run with Porter was no exception except for a couple little things. The biggest being, maybe that is the way Porter wanted it to be? This is an event for children, the outdoors, a celebration of life, love and nature. If you want to do something special with your child, ask them on a rainy day if they would like to go outside and play with you? You may just make a memory that will last a lifetime! If this is what Porter was looking for, he just made a couple hundred parents look like super-hero’s in the eyes of their kids! I didn’t see a frown all day. Nobody complained. Coffee ran out in the end and a bunch of kids and adults headed home for a much needed nap! Everybody enjoyed the fresh fruit, morning yoga stretch and 5km run/walk.
