November 28th, 2009 Bahia Principe - Jessica & Brad

This was our first visit back to the Bahia Principe since my sisters destination wedding back in May 2008.  It was alot of fun to be back at this resort.  It definitely brought back some good memories of my stay there with friends and family.  My sister was married in the Tulum gazebo, which was a beautiful site, as was Jessica & Brads location directly on the Akumal beach.  The beach ceremony site was quite private and didn’t attract very many unwanted visitors.  It is off to the side where beach go’ers don’t need to walk near the area to access the beach.  We have found that to be a very important requirement for a beach wedding.

Being that this was our first time shooting a wedding there, we also found out more about their external vendor policies.  Apparently they are implementing a new rule that does not allow external photographers to be at your wedding.  If you have booked your wedding here and are considering an external photographer be sure to get permission in writing… and save it!

Brad & Jess were a great pair and enjoyed their day to the fullest.   It was a pleasure meeting you both.  Hope you are enjoying your newlywed lives!

November 19th, 2009 Azul Sensatori - Nicole & Curt - TTD

For the first time since we moved to Playa we had 5 straight days of clouds and rain.  Until then, it hadn’t rained more than 30 minutes at a time. Occasionally worrying the brides, but always clearing up just in time for the ceremony.  Well, Nicole and Curts wedding was no different.  The rain held out and we were able to get some great shots of the family and the newlyweds.  The following day however, we weren’t quite so lucky… or so we originally thought.  It did rain on us, we took a few breaks and covered up the equipment as best we could.  We were all pretty wet and even got a few chills, believe it or not.

Anyway, when we got home and took a peek on the computer we were pleased to confirm the storm clouds and wind added a special feeling that was very unique to Nicole & Curts trip to Mexico.  So, even though we had to “weather the storm” it was well worth it in the end.

Nicole & Curt, your patience with the weather payed off.  Enjoy!

November 12th, 2009 Azul Sensatori Nicole & Curt

We captured the wedding of Nicole & Curt this week at the Azul Sensatori.  After a short adventure through Puerto Morelos we found the correct road and the bread crumb trail to this fairly new resort!  The sun disappeared a day before the wedding…  and stayed in hiding because of hurricane IDA. Even though the sun god did not shine on us, the group was excited and ready for the big day!  This just shows you that attitude is everything!!!  Beauty comes from the inside and we think a picture is worth a thousand words. We went from a wedding that had 2 days of beautiful Mexican sun to a wedding with 2 days of rain and the threat of a tropical storm.  Regardless of the weather, Lori and I think they both came out fantastic!  I have not began editing the TTD shoot but I know it will contain a dark moody attitude!  Perfect for a TTD shoot!

Here are a few teaser images we captured on the wedding day!  Best of luck Nicole and Curt.  You guys were a small group but tones of fun to work with.

November 8th, 2009 Adventura Spa Palace Marissa & Shawn

Here are a couple of our favorite images after capturing the wedding of  Marissa & Shawn a couple of weeks ago in the Mayan Riviera. They had perfect weather for their wedding and we loved the added touch of the horse drawn carriage! We met up again with them a couple days later to shoot their Trash the Dress in Playa del Carmen.  Once again, the weather gods smiled down on us and gave us the perfect Mexican sunset that we all love! Those sunset images pretty much came straight out of the camera with the bright yellow and orange colors you see captured. Nature is sometimes so surreal and beautiful!

Take care Marissa & Shawn… and we hope you enjoy these preview pictures.
